Ready to Move?

Moving is an exciting and emotional time, and we want to make sure no details or belongings are forgotten or lost in transition. Drawing from our collective experience, we know there are lots of ways to help make your household move easier and smoother.

Organizing & Planning
  Make a list. Before you even pack one box, set up a simple record-keeping system. Number each box and include its contents on your list.
  Be specific. When describing contents, “X-Z Files” is better than “Files” and “Plastic Wares” is better than “Kitchen Misc."
  Colour coordinate. Designate a colour for every room in your new home. Put matching stickers on the boxes that belong in the appropriately coloured room.
  Pack ahead. Pack up anything you don’t need for the last few weeks and days. Pare everything down to “must haves.” This will save you valuable time on Moving Day.

Packing & Moving
  Packing can be a great incentive to cut down your belongings. Separate items you aren’t sure about into three categories: Throw-Away, Give Away and Keep.
  Use your luggage. Clothes, sheets and towels are just the thing to pack into your duffels and luggage.
  Pack everything carefully, ensuring larger items are in manageable containers and valuables are left in your possession.
  Don’t forget to keep the items you’ll need for your first day in the new house with you, including bedding, shower curtain and other things you will need before you can get unpacked.
  Have plenty of supplies. You will need more supplies and boxes than you think. Don’t forget packing tape and newspaper or bubble wrap.
  Use wardrobe boxes. Not only are these boxes great for clothes that need to remain hanging, but they are ideal for bulky, lightweight items such as comforters, pillows, blankets, etc.
